Bronze at ISAF World Championships and Olympic Spot
Have had a pretty amazing last few days!!! Managed to stand on the podium at the ISAF World Championships in Perth receiving the bronze medal. Was a tough regatta and I managed to work my way up the fleet to be in solid medal contention going into the medal race.
Then just yesterday, became one of the first athletes announced into the NZ Olympic Team to compete at the London 2012 Olympics! Although this will be my second time to the Games it still felt just as good as the first time to be included in the team.
Plenty of hard work still to continue as I now have just over 7 months till showtime!
I have been pushed hard for this spot by the other kiwi guys (Andy Maloney, Mike Bullot, Sam Meech, Josh Junior) which has been awesome and I'm hoping this can continue through to the games.
Thanks so much to all my family, friends & sponsors who have supported me over the years!
Merry Xmas all and I wish you a great new year!
Happy Sailing,
Andrew

Let the sailing begin!
I have now made it to Perth all fit and healthy which is great!
Actually our pilot was a guy i used to sail against! My gear all made it here safely too which is always a relief.
Really looking forward to getting out on the water and enjoying the awesome sailing Fremantle has to offer. Actually, so far it's not as hot as I thought it was going to be....I'm sure the forecasted temp in the high 30's for later this week will take care of that though!
A BIG thank you to Hyundai over here in Perth! Just drove back to Fremantle from picking up a new Hyundai Elantra that I have the use of while I'm here, awesome ride! Will certainly help with resting the tired legs after some long days sailing here!!!
Off to the yacht club now to sort out my training boat and make sure I haven't left anything behind in NZ....
I get my event provided boat on the 3rd Dec, racing for the Worlds starts for me on the 12th so I have a few days of training in that boat which will be nice. For info on the upcoming world championship click on the image below-

Next event - Sail Melbourne - Nov 7th - 12th
Well, I'm all booked up and sorted for Sail Melbourne which I'm looking forward to. The event starts early November and will serve as a 'warm up' for the ISAF World Championships which I'll be racing at in mid December. Training is going well and the weather gods have been pretty kind to us over the last few weeks offering up and nice range of conditions. Better get back to it!
